This glass topped coffee table was commissioned by a client from Kirkby Lonsdale who wanted the focus to be the table top, which was a thick glass roof-light that had been recovered from her own roof during refurbishment. The simple design and use of some lovely oak complements the wonderful texture of the reclaimed glass. The gentle curve to the top of each leg adds an extra dimension, accentuating the transition from leg to rail and then glass.
Despite it’s simplicity the design allows for strength in the mortise and tenon joints that guarantees a lifetime of use without fear of failure. It’s such a pleasure to work on a simple design that has a story behind it to give it a unique twist.
